Vegan hair care products are becoming more and more popular as people decide to follow a vegan lifestyle or just prefer to make more conscious choices. They are now easier to find, and more accessible than ever.
Using vegan hair care also means that you know that they are biodegradable and environmentally friendly, which is helpful in increasing blood flow to your hair follicles, improves hair growth and the end result you will have vibrant, healthy, and youthful-looking hair.

There are two considerations when thinking about vegan hair products:
Firstly, they shouldn’t contain any ingredients that are derived from animals. So that means obvious ingredients like honey and beeswax, as well as those that you might not realize come from animals like casein (from cows’ milk), lanolin (from sheep wool), and stearic acid (from pigs’ stomachs).
Secondly, you may also want to use cruelty-free products, which means they are never tested on animals at any point during the supply or manufacturing chain.
Keratin is an ingredient used to make the hair appear full and glossy, but it is not vegan. Keratin usually comes from ground-up animal hair, horns, hooves, and feathers. In some instances, keratin can be synthesized from amino acids extracted from plants to make vegan keratin.
It is always clearly stated on the label if that’s the case. Fortunately, there are many vegan alternatives for keratin, other ingredients that also give hair similar care benefits!
