For many parents this may sound like an absurd question but, are you really using the right kind of nappy for your baby? Today the market is fully loaded with varieties of nappies – from traditional cotton nappies to disposable ones, and also reusable ones are available.
It can be confusing if you are a first-time mother to compare the benefits of the different options available. This post can help mothers select the durable fabric nappy pants for their babies.
Shopping for your baby is fun but while buying you would need to keep a few facts in mind such as:
The convenience of use – Are these nappies easy to use, wash and dry? Do these allow stuffing in case you need to boost its absorption capacity? Is it easy to carry them while traveling?
Cost – Cloth nappies are cheaper than supermarket disposable, branded nappies. Cloth fit snuggly and softer against baby skin. You would need to calculate how many disposable your baby would need in a day to calculate the actual cost.
The convenience of washing – Would you prefer to throw the nappy away against washing? Cloth nappies become harsh with detergent over time. Using a fabric with a mix of wool is a better option as these stay softer for longer.
Performance – What type of cloth nappy would perform best, i.e. less leakage and fewer changes per day? Reusable nappies need to be changed more frequently than disposable nappies. This would also alter your costs.
Variants – Heavily padded nappies are preferred over normal during traveling or for overnight protection. You must select a type of nappy depending on your requirements.
Environmental cost – Reusable cloth nappy is environmentally friendly but these might cost more than disposable diapers.
