There are many solar lights on the market today. While some require professional installation and careful consideration of the details, most can be "pushed into place". These products, while inexpensive, are often poorly designed and lack visual appeal. Poor design can create a negative image for outdoor solar lighting.
We have all been tempted to purchase those cheap solar lights for the garden. Truth be told, I also bought my fair share. My backyard became a light show and most of the lights had to be replaced after a year. Some of the lights fell in half, but many simply didn't work. After reflection, I realized that the ease of installation also hindered their ability to look good.

An outdoor solar light properly designed is meant to enhance the surrounding environment. The best lights don't draw attention to their own merits. Although this may sound odd, it is true when we look at the best indoor lighting fixtures.
An indoor fixture that is well-designed may initially grab your attention, much like a chandelier in a lobby of an old movie theatre. You soon lose focus of the fixture and your attention drifts to other things. The same should be true for a solar light.
A solar light can provide ambient light that radiates from the surface without visual distraction if it is properly designed.
